Let the Waves In

All I could remember was that I needed to surround myself with good energy.

There was a time when the world felt like a blank slate,
and every day seemed to repeat itself at the same familiar rate.
When everything became too loud, too heavy, too much to explain,
all I could think about was the water
the sound of waves rolling toward the shore and retreating again.

It was strange, really.

To think that someone as stubborn and strong as me
could eventually feel weak, vulnerable, and in need of company.
I had always believed I could carry everything on my own,
that I could endure the weight without ever letting it be shown.

But sometimes, even the strongest person needs somewhere to go.
Somewhere the world becomes quiet enough to breathe slow.

It all happened so suddenly.

I had expected the same monotonous cycle to continue
endless workloads, endless chores, endless things to do,
one responsibility replacing another before the first was even through.

I thought about the days when I could simply stay at home,
doing nothing, enjoying the quiet, letting the hours roam.

But nothing good seems to last forever, I suppose.
Eventually, work calls. Responsibilities knock.
And those peaceful days disappear behind another clock.

Then came the people.

The same people who kept asking me to come along,
the same people whose gazes I had learned to turn away from for so long.

Ever since I got promoted,
I found myself being constantly asked and occasionally pestered.

At first, I didn't understand why.

These were the same people I had spent so much time with during training,
the same people whose company I had once enjoyed without even thinking.

Little did I know,
their energy was exactly what I needed.

Their laughter.
Their conversations.
Their presence.

Sometimes, you don't realize someone is good for your soul
until you finally allow them close enough to make you whole.

Then they asked me to visit some islands.

Honestly, the thought scared me.

Maybe it was the unfamiliarity.
Maybe it was the distance.
Maybe I simply wasn't ready for something that felt too far away.

So instead, we settled for a nearby beach.

And somehow, that was enough.

I made sure everything was prepared.
Bags. Plans. Schedules. Everything is arranged.

Until the day finally came.

And strangely enough, the thing that scared me wasn't the trip.

It was asking for permission.

I felt that cold sweat creep over me as I wondered:

What if my manager doesn't approve?
What if I'm asking for something I'm not eligible for?
What if I'm becoming a burden?

I had already convinced myself of the answer before I even heard it.

But reality had something else in store.

Instead of rejection, there was a slight smile.

Instead of disappointment, there was understanding.

She approved it.

And suddenly, the thing I had been so afraid to ask for became the very thing I desperately needed.

For once, I could step away.

For once, I could breathe.

For once, I could simply be.

So we packed our bags.

We knew it would be a long ride,
but somehow, knowing that our destination was waiting made the journey feel right.

We talked about what we would do when our feet finally touched the tide.
We imagined the food, the laughter, the places we'd see, the moments we'd create.

And eventually, we arrived.

A cozy little place became our temporary home.

The kind of place where the world outside seemed to slow down.

We ate.
We talked.
We laughed.

We even had time to celebrate and go to a party.

Although, of course, every adventure needs a little chaos.

At one point, one of our friends ended up vomiting.

And somehow, even that became part of the story.

Because maybe that's what a good trip really is.

Not perfection.

But memories.

The kind you laugh about later.
The kind that makes you smile when you remember them years from now.

The kind that remind you:

You were there. You lived it. You enjoyed it.

I guess that's what I'm trying to say.

Life isn't always as bad as we convince ourselves it is.

Sometimes, we're just too busy surviving it to notice that there are still beautiful things waiting for us in it.

Sometimes you need to stop.

Look around.

Breathe in.

And slowly exhale.

Let the sound of the waves remind you that not everything has to be rushed.
Let the wind remind you that even heavy things can eventually pass.
Let the people around you remind you that you don't always have to carry everything alone.

Because somewhere between the endless work, the responsibilities, and the things we think we have to do,

There are moments waiting to become memories.

And maybe those moments are where we finally see our hard work turning into something real,
our achievements are slowly bursting into fruition.

So what are you waiting for?

Pack your bags.
Call your people.
Find somewhere the sky feels wider and the water feels endless.

Book that trip.

Take that ride.

Chase that horizon.

Because life isn't meant to be spent only getting through it,
Sometimes, you have to stop, breathe, and actually live through it.
